The Heron Dance Nature Art Journal

The Heron Dance Nature Art Journal explores the beauty and mystery of the natural world with art and words. Heron Dance proposes that a connection with wild nature can contribute a sense of peace to a human life. By opening ourselves up to the beauty and mystery around us, we gain an appreciation for the gift of life, the Great Dance of Life. Heron Dance is an expression of gratitude for that gift.

Heron Dance is based on the premise that our culture needs to hear more from people who know and love wild nature. Much of the work we publish is based on the art and writing of Roderick MacIver, a nature artist whose home and studio is located in the Split Rock Wildway, a 3,000 acre nature preserve in Adirondack Park. Heron Dance also includes interviews, book excerpts, poetry and essays. Heron Dance is a work of love. Heron Dance is published twice a year in full color on recycled paper. It has no advertising and is 72 pages in length. Each issue contains dozens of paintings in full color.
